What is Selegiline 5 mg Capsule?
Selegiline HCL capsules are used for treating the type of spontaneous Cushing’s disease in dogs that originates in the pituitary gland. It appears to be effective in improving some of the symptoms of Cushing’s syndrome, particularly the reduced activity level. It is also given to dogs for the treatment of cognitive dysfunction. When treating cognitive dysfunction, Selegiline should accompany a behavior modification plan.

What are the side effects of Selegiline 5 mg Capsule?
There is a 5% incidence of unacceptable side effects. These include: vomiting, diarrhea, appetite loss, itchy skin, tremors, drooling, listlessness, disorientation, diminished hearing, or restlessness.
What special precautions are there?
Do not use in pregnant or nursing animals. Tell your veterinarian about any other medical conditions your pet has. Tell your veterinarian if your pet is pregnant or lactating.
DO NOT us with antidepressants. Selegiline should not be given if the pet is taking meperidine.

How can I store Selegiline 5 mg Capsule?
Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight.
When treating cognitive dysfunction, Selegiline should accompany a behavior modification plan.
Use as directed by your veterinarian.
The usual dose for Cushing's disease is 0.45 mg/pound by mouth once a day in the morning.
The usual dose for canine cognitive dysfunction is 0.2-0.45 mg/pound. Do not use in pregnant or nursing animals.
Do not give more of this medication than is prescribed without consulting your veterinarian. Selegiline may cause drowsiness or dizziness.
