Desmopressin is a synthetic analogue of the natural hormone vasopressin and is commonly prescribed by veterinarians for use in cats, dogs, and other animals. Provided in eye-drop form, this medication helps support proper fluid balance and manage certain hormonal or urinary conditions under veterinary supervision.

What are the side effects of Desmopressin Acetate Compounded Aqueous Ophthalmic Suspension, 10 ml?
Be sure to discuss any side effects your pet experiences while taking desmopressin with your veterinarian immediately. The most common side effects include burning, stinging and redness in the eye after application. Other systemic side effects include swelling and water retention.
What special precautions are there?
Keep desmopressin and all drugs out of reach of children and pets. Desmopressin is a prescription drug and should be used according to your veterinarian's directions, and it should only be given to the animal for which it was prescribed. Do not give this medication to a person. Desmopressin should not be given to animals that are allergic to it, or drugs like it, or to animals with blood clotting disorders such as platelet type (pseudo) von Willebrand disease. Desmopressin should be used with caution in animals that are pregnant or nursing.
What to do if overdose?
Overdose of desmopressin may cause more severe reactions similar to those listed previously in the side effects section. If you suspect your pet or another animal was accidentally overdosed or has eaten this medication inadvertently, contact your veterinarian or the A.S.P.C.A.'s Animal Poison Control Center at 888.426.4435. Always bring the prescription container with you when you take your pet for treatment. If you or someone else has accidentally ingested this medication call the National Capital Poison Center at 800.222.1222.

Each ml contains: Desmopressin Acetate USP 0.1mg and Sodium Chloride 0.9% for injection Q.S. May contain Sodium Hydroxide and/or Hydrochloric Acid NF to adjust pH. Contains Chlorobutanol NF as a preservative, 5mg/ml.
