What are the side effects of Demecarium Bromide Compounded Aqueous Ophthalmic Suspension, 5 ml?
Be sure to discuss any side effects your pet experiences while taking demecarium bromide with your veterinarian immediately. The most common side effects include burning, stinging and redness in the eye after application. Demecarium bromide may cause potentially fatal systemic toxicity in cats. Signs of systemic toxicity include vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, lethargy, and weakness.
What special precautions are there?
Keep demecarium bromide and all drugs out of reach of children and pets. Demecarium bromide is a prescription drug and should be used according to your veterinarian's directions, and it should only be given to the animal for which it was prescribed. Do not give this medication to a person. Demecarium bromide should not be given to animals that are allergic to it, or drugs like it, or to animals that are be pregnant or nursing.
Overdose of demecarium bromide may cause more severe reactions similar to those listed previously in the side effects section. If you suspect your pet or another animal was accidentally overdosed or has eaten this medication inadvertently, contact your veterinarian or the A.S.P.C.A.'s Animal Poison Control Center at 888.426.4435. Always bring the prescription container with you when you take your pet for treatment. Per ml: Demecarium Bromide 2.5mg, Sodium Chloide 7.8mg, Sodium phosphate monobasic 1mg, Sodium phosphate dibasic 0.2mg and sterile water for injection QS, benzalkonium cl 0.2mg, may contain Sodium hydroxide and/or hydrochloric acid.
